MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The annual Mayoral Golf Day is underway at the Mossel Bay Golf Estate today, Friday 11 September, where several guests are enjoying exciting games of golf, all in the name of charity.
Several local business owners and prominent figures are playing on the estate’s course, including Group Editors CEO Servaas de Kock, Andrew Moolman of GE Packers, Kassie Karstens of George’s Easycare practices and minister Johann Winterbach of the NG George-South & Herolds Bay Congregation.
The Golf Day is hosted by the Mossel Bay Municipality and Mayor Dirk Kotzé as a fundraiser for the Mayoral Fund. A young golf player, Tristan Brown, opened the day with a stunning swing of his club.
The Mayoral Fund aims to support various causes in Mossel Bay, including providing emergency funds, financially assisting vulnerable members of the community, or supporting NGOs.
Another fundraiser was held yesterday morning, 10 September, in the form of a Mayoral Breakfast at the Diaz Hotel. Cape Town Mayor, Geordin Hill-Lewis, was the event’s keynote speaker.
During the breakfast, Kotzé mentioned the significant amount of money raised from the ticket sales for today’s golf day and thanked supporters for making the municipality’s various fundraisers a success.
“Over the years, this has become more than just a breakfast or a golf day; it has become a vehicle for tangible change to be made in our communities,” he said.
The next Mayoral Breakfast is scheduled for October, with Ivan Meyer as keynote speaker. Meyer is the current Western Cape Provincial Minister of Agriculture, Economic Development and Tourism.
