Update
MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The man accused of stabbing a 42-year-old mother of five 19 times in her KwaNonqaba home in November appeared in the Mossel Bay Regional Court on Monday 29 September.
The accused, who had also been charged with the rape of the same woman in October last year, cannot be named until he pleads.
He was arrested late in October on the rape charge and had been released on bail of R800. On 11 November, the man allegedly went to the woman’s house and stabbed her 19 times, leaving her in a critical condition.
He was arrested on an attempted murder charge shortly afterwards, however, this was changed to murder after the woman died from her injuries in the Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town on 10 December.
The rape case and murder case were joined together on 22 July and are now being heard in the regional court. The accused remains behind bars and is set to appear in court again on 13 October.
