MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Aqhamile Kwinana (16), a Grade Nine learner at Hillcrest Secondary School, was one of the assistant referees in the annual Bayhill Premier Cup Easter Soccer Tournament, held in Cape Town over the Easter weekend.
Kwinana told Mossel Bay Advertiser that an exciting moment of his time as an assistant referee was getting to rub shoulders with some of the country’s best match officials, including seasoned Premier Soccer League official Abongile Tom.
“It has always been a dream of mine to become a professional match official, practising what I love and making my parents proud,” said Kwinana.
To others with the same dream, Kwinana had this advice: “In life, if you want to achieve your goals, you must focus and work hard. Discipline, dedication, respect and commitment, as well as understanding the rules of the game, are important.”
