MOSSEL BAY NEWS - A 36-year-old man, Sulomse Bela, was recently sentenced to 12 years' imprisonment for murdering 12-year-old Chulumanco Nondzube in March last year.
On the day of the incident Chulumanco was stabbed twice and ran almost 500 metres with two open knife wounds in his lower back to the home of Madoda Mbangi (54) in Munyu Street, KwaNonqaba, before he collapsed in Madoda's living room.
Chulumanco and friends were playing outside when the children allegedly teased the accused who was walking in the street near the play park. The suspect walked back to his home, where he fetched a knife and chased the children.
Chulumanco was fatally stabbed with an Okapi knife while his friend, Khanyo Tose (14), was injured.
Chulumanco was rushed to Life Bay View Private Hospital, where he was later declared dead.
Bela pleaded guilty on the murder charge against him and was sentenced by regional magistrate Neels Nortjé in the Mossel Bay Regional Court.
