MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Meryl Brown has lived with a disability all her life. She has limited use of the left side of her body.
Meryl currently works as a make-up artist and is the mother of an 11-year-old boy. She earned a title in the first Miss Eden competition hosted by Crawlers and Crowns at the Garden Route Casino earlier this month. Title holders are expected to make a difference in their communities.
"I have always wanted to make a difference in a disabled child's life and this is my opportunity. I want to visit Siyanithanda weekly to show the children that I care for their wellbeing,"
Meryl said during her visit to the school last week. During her talk, she said to the learners that they must never sit in a corner and feel sorry for themselves because they are disabled. "Keep dreaming and show people what you can do."
Pastor Maki of the centre thanked Meryl for her visit. "You motivated us today, because you spoke of a dream. We are here, in this centre, because of a dream."
