MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The Santos Express train at Santos Beach, Mossel Bay, is getting a makeover and it's looking pretty good already.
The express, which does not operate as a train, serves as a restaurant, bar, conference venue and lodge, offering accommodation in the train compartments.
It is being painted to look like the renovated steam train, Jenny, which travels between Mossel Bay and Great Brak on special occasions.
Artist
Fraaiuitsig resident, Angelique Nieuwenhuizen, is doing the makeover.
Bubbly, smiley and arty looking, Angelique is an artist during the day from about 06:00 to 12:00 and then again after 16:00.
This is because she paints during the cooler hours of the day.
Passionately placing her hand on her heart, she says about her painting: "I do this for my heart."
Regular job
But she is not giving up her regular job. She is a senior financial planner and when she is not painting, she is consulting to clients.
She paints under the name, Makoti. Angelique listens to music, using her earphones while she paints.
Every now and then she steps back from her painting, squinting at it with a critical eye while humming and moving to the music.

Cheerful Angelique Nieuwenhuizen enjoys being creative.
