Erika van der Westhuizen, Dana Bay:
A buck in the Dana Bay Conservancy was killed during the evening of Friday, 30 August, near the Paradise Coast Lifestyle Estate. The animal was hit by a vehicle.
On 1 September, another buck was hit and killed by a vehicle on the same road, about 150m between the traffic robot and Paradise Coast. I am the chairperson of the Dana Bay Conservancy and discovered the animals after hearing reports from Dr Henk Basson.
Two buck, in two nights. I am a concerned citizen. We, as the Conservancy Committee, plead with residents, members and visitors to please drive carefully.
We are trying to save our wildlife by doing anti-snare walks, but then people in cars also become our enemies.
Please ask your friends, family, neighbours and visitors to keep to lower speeds and on this road in particular. I walk this road regularly and see terrible speeding every day and this is by our own residents.
