GARDEN ROUTE DISTRICT SPORT NEWS - A bespoke mountain bike event will take place in Tulbagh on 14 and 15 August.
The Tulbagh Olive & Wine MTB Tour is a boutique event, kept small to adhere to lockdown regulations. It will be held at Raptor Rise Farm. The distances are 50km and 40km.
Rider groups will be assisted by the local MTB committee members of Overberg MTB Events, which will offer the chance for people to get to know the local mountain bikers and "learn about the soul of Tulbagh".
"Participants will have the amazing opportunity to ride some of this year's Cape Epic routes in their own comfort zone," said event director, Anneke Jacobs.
Entries are now open for these rides in Tulbagh, which is in the Winelands and famous for its notable wine route. "This is a great weekend to escape to a quaint little town, only 80 minutes from Cape Town," said Jacobs.
Tulbagh features one of the most breathtakingly beautiful valleys in South Africa, producing top quality wines, olives, and fruits. It also boasts a range of natural, cultural and historic attractions that make it well worth visiting.
Accommodation is available at Raptor Rise Farm, with a 20% discount on direct bookings available to riders.
Participants and their families are encouraged to support the local restaurants in town for dinner options.
