MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The South African Local Government Association (SALGA) has called on South Africans to join the effort to end gender-based violence, femicide and other forms of abuse against women and children.
SALGA also has a Women's Commission (SWC), established in 2010 to promote the interests of women in local government.
On Tuesday, 26 November, SALGA Western Cape Women's Commission chairperson, Councillor Annatjie Janse Van Rensburg, joined several other role players in the community safety sector at two vehicle check points held in Hartenbos and Great Brak River.
These check points were organised as part of the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children campaign.
During this community safety awareness campaign information packs were handed out during public engagement with residents and visitors in Mossel Bay.
