However, I’m often a bit dubious about the wild and enthusiastic claims and promises made by tooth whitening products – and the scary list of chemicals in the ingredients.
So when I received a sample tube of Elgydium whitening toothpaste and saw that the main ingredient was sodium bicarbonate, I decided that this one would be a pretty harmless product to try, after all, our grannies have been hailing bicarb as the miracle tooth whitener for years… and Elgydium Whitening does not contain any peroxide or bleaching agents.
Elgydium Whitening is marketed as “an everyday whitening toothpaste to combat stains and discoloration”
I’ve been using it for four weeks (the minimum time to test any tooth whitener) and so has my teenage daughter (white teeth are really high on the agenda for this selfie queen at this stage of her life). We both feel that our teeth are definitely less yellow – and the taste is mild too.
That’s my verdict – but why not test it for yourself? At only R59.95 for a 75ml tube, it’s worth a try!
What’s in it and what it does
Elgydium Whitening is a non-abrasive whitening toothpaste for everyday use. Micro-pulverised sodium bicarbonate (which is five times finer than regular sodium bicarbonate) can penetrate the finer furrows of the tooth to polish and thereby improve stains.
