HARTENBOS NEWS - The Mossel Bay Municipality advised residents to refrain from swimming at Hartenbos Beach until the carcasses of the beaked whales have been removed.
It said samples of the whales, that beached in Hartenbos yesterday, 24 March, have been taken by the relevant authorities and the municipality’s environmental contractor is currently busy with carcass management.
"Carcass removal is underway, but dependent on tidal movement, which is having an adverse impact on successfully moving the adult beaked whale carcass.
"Efforts to remove the carcass will continue tomorrow. Until then, beach goers are advised to refrain from swimming at the Hartenbos beach."
