HARTENBOS NEWS - An adult beaked whale and a calf were euthanised on Hartenbos Beach this afternoon, 24 March.
The adult washed ashore earlier, resulting in efforts from various organisations (including S.M.A.R.T. and the NSRI) and members of the community to get the animal back into the ocean.
It was reported that the calf had washed ashore a while after the adult.
Efforts to save the pair were unfortunately in vain, and they were euthanised. The condition the whales were found in is not yet known.
