MOSSEL BAY FIRES: No active fire, wind prediction of 30 km/h monitored

MOSSEL BAY NEWS & VIDEO - Although there are still no active fires reported, Mossel Bay teams remain on alert as winds of up to 30km/h are expected.

At 07:30 this morning, Saturday, 10 January, the Mossel Bay Municipality said fire crews continued operations throughout the night in the fire affected areas.

“The Joint Operations Centre, coordinating the collaborative multi-agency firefighting operations was closed down yesterday after the final briefing at 16:00, but operations continued in the field mopping up and attending to hotspots.”

It said the fire remains contained and under control. The night shift continued with mopping-up operations throughout the night at Vakansieplaas/Island View.

“Aalwyndal Road, the west, north and eastern lines remain cold with no activity. Extensive mopping-up operations continue throughout today.”

There fire team still includes a multi-agency collaboration between the Garden Route District Municipality, Working on Fire and Mossel Bay Municipality.
