Update
MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The vegetation fire between Little Brak River and Hartenbos was extinguished by the Mossel Bay Fire, Rescue and Disaster Management Services last night, 4 January.
The fire broke out near the railway line between the two areas on the afternoon of 3 January.
The Mossel Bay Municipality stated that its firefighting crews had been battling the flames since Saturday afternoon, however, their efforts were hampered by some inaccessible terrain.
Late yesterday afternoon, the crews began mopping-up operations and the perimeter around the Hartland Lifestyle Estate was secured.
There are no visible flames or smoke, and the crews will remain in the area to monitor the situation and tend to any hotspots that may flare up.
