MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The SWD Women Youth Training Centre (YTC) recently hosted a series of coaching clinics for players between U14 and U20.
There was a clinic in George, one in Mossel Bay and another in Oudtshoorn.
In Mossel Bay, various schools' girls showed up on 17 September to take part in the day, including Indwe Secondary and Imekhaya, Isalathiso and Erika Primary.
Local community coach Stanley Kama said the day served as an introduction into rugby for beginners.
Along with practical skills, the girls were taught the values of rugby: discipline, respect, integrity, passion and solidarity.
Various coaches, including Coach Sammy Oktober of the YTC, assisted with the clinic.
The session started with a dynamic warm-up, whereafter the girls moved through various skill stations, including catching and passing the ball, tackle techniques as well as ball placement.
