MOSSEL BAY RUGBY NEWS - Titans Women's Rugby Academy might have been founded 14 years ago, but they've never had proper training equipment, that is until the teams from Hollywoodbets and Supersport show Phaka donated kit and equipment to TWRA on Thursday, 8 August.
Titans was founded as Knysna's first women's rugby club all the way back in 2005 by a group of women who wanted to change the face of rugby in town, while tackling the stigma around women's rugby as well.
This was just the start for the club, and they had to make do with what they had, which was next to nothing other than the equipment and kit they personally owned.
This didn't stop them however, as the ladies powered onward and continued the rise of the club to the point where, in 2010, according to Titans coach Aschin Klein they realised they need to develop a youth academy structure to filter into the senior side somewhere down the line.

This was the birth of what would become the Titans Women's Rugby Academy we know today, and all along the road the academy never had the necessary training equipment, but still managed to churn out a high standard of rugby.
Klein is an individual who is extremely active on social media, using Facebook as a means to promote TWRA and expand the footprint that the club and academy has in the hopes of expanding their current setup. This is where Phaka falls in, as Klein regularly posts about TWRA in Phaka's public Facebook group, where Phaka presenter Kaunda Ntunja picked up on what Klein does with TWRA.

Ntunja and Phaka then roped in the help of their title sponsor Hollywoodbets to come forward and assist TWRA, which they gladly did.
This led to TWRA receiving a sizeable sponsorship from Phaka and Hollywoodbets which included a brand new kit, rugby balls, tackle bags, training gear, and all sorts of things that will help further the academy according to Klein.
"I am extremely grateful for what they have given us, we've never had this kind of equipment before, and it will go a very long way to helping us improve the quality of our rugby at the academy," Klein said.
