MOSSEL BAY NEWS - An Easter Rugby Tournament is taking place at D'Almeida Park, Mossel Bay, on Saturday, 19 April.
It is a fundraiser for the community of Buisplaas, organised by the EPC Buis Children Fund Academy NPO.
Connie Buis, a descendant of the family, after whom Buisplaas is named, is coming to Mossel Bay from England to attend the tournament.
The prize money for the winning teams totals R15 000 and there will be a raffle, R100 per ticket, for an ox to be won, sponsored by Connie Buis and fattened up by a farmer, Kosie Sauerman.
The gates open at 08:00 and the tournament starts at 09:00. See the programme below this article.
These teams are participating: 1. Barbarians (Mossel Bay), 2. Shamrocks (Buisplaas), 3. Titans (Mossel Bay), 4. Happy Hearts (Brandwag), 5. Multisure Evergreens (Pacaltzdorp), 6. Thistles (Friemersheim), 7. Rebels (Calitzdorp) and 8. Black Warriors (Herbertsdale).
The draw to decide which teams play each one another was done on 28 March.

In the first round, Shamrocks play Rebels, Happy Hearts play Thistles, Titans play Black Warriors and Barbarians play Multisure Evergreens.
The entry fees at the gate are: adults - R 30, children aged seven to 13 - R20, vehicles - R10 and bringing a cooler box - R50 each.
There will be food stalls and children's entertainment.
The organisers thank Dr Kosie Haarhoff (George Municipality), Alderman Ray van Rooy (mayor, Bergrivier Municipality), Alderman Niklaas Booisen (Mossel Bay Municipality), the Buisplaas Lutheran Evangelical Church, Jerome Sass, the catering team, all the teams taking part in the tournament and senior pastor Leon Prinsloo for their support.
Two DJs have been booked for the tournament.
