SPORT NEWS - Eden MPA (Eden Modern Pentathlon Association) athletes represented South Africa and raked in the medals at the UIPM Laser Run World Championships in Bath, England from 19 to 21 August.
More than 33 countries and 560 athletes were represented at the global showcase of UIPM's most popular development sport, Pentathlon Laser Run.
Wanru Haasbroek won a gold team medal for the U11 boys and a silver medal in his U11 individual boys' category. He teamed up with Keyla Douglas for the U11 mixed relay event, in which they won the silver medal. Keyla Douglas also competed in the U11 individual girls' category and placed 11th.
Duné Haasbroek came an impressive sixth in the U15 individual girls' category, being in the younger year of this age group. Duné even took on the U17s as she teamed up with a boy in the U17 mixed relay event, in which they placed 8th overall.
Johan Schoeman came fourth in the U15 mixed relay event and ninth in the U15 individual boys' category.
Pieter Schoeman won a bronze medal in the U13 mixed relay event and he placed ninth in the U13 individual boys' category.
Mariska Haasbroek won a gold medal in the 40+ mixed relay event and she placed fourth in the Masters 40+ individual women's category.
