MOSSELBAAI NUUS - Die maandelikse Houespel en Set-kompetisie is in trietsige weer begin, maar die vasbyters is beloon met heerlike gholf-weer.
Annette Pretorius, die vroue se kaptein, het weer eens skitter-gholf gespeel en was die bruto-wenner. Boonop het sy die set-kompetisie gewen en twee spog-tweetjies behaal. Om nie eens te praat van naaste aan die pen op die agtste putjie nie.
Die uitslae was as volg:
Netto: 1. Michaela Collins 70; 2. Linchen Wessels 76.
Naaste aan die pen: 8ste putjie - Annette Pretorius.
Spog-tweetjies: Lienchen Wessels (8ste), Annette Pretorius (8ste en 12de).
Set-kompetisie: Annette Pretorius 27 sette.
Rita Herholdt, een van ons lede en verlede jaar se Presidente van Suid-Kaap Vroue Gholf, het besluit om haar horisonne te verbreed en die skeidsregter-eksamen aan te durf.
Om die eksamen te skryf, moes sy na die hartland van gholf, die Royal en Ancient Club by St Andrews in Skotland gaan. Wat ‘n uitdaging en wat ‘n ondervinding! Ons is baie trots op haar.
Rita skryf, "I had the privilege of attending the R&A Level 3 Tournament Administrators and Referees School in St Andrews (Scotland) in the beginning of February with 92 delegates from all over the world, including places like Estonia, Latvia and Iceland.
The delegates included all levels of experience, European Referees rewriting their exams every four years, professional players like Andrew Coltart mowing into commentating, The Director of Rules from the USA and novices, like myself, who are just starting their journey as a referee in golf.
"To be able to tap into the knowledge and experience of these participants was fantastic.
"After the nerve-racking exam, time was spend on practical exercises and discussions about the development of the rules, equipment and the game in general.
"One of the many highlights was dinner in the infamous Clubhouse of the Royal & Ancient overlooking the 1st and 18th holes of the Old Course of St Andrews. Building of the Clubhouse was started in 1854 with the last changes being made in 2002.
"It is only open to the public one day per year, so to walk into the sanctuary of golf and golf history was exciting and awesome. This week was undoubtedly one of the highlights of my golfing life."
