FOOTBALL NEWS - The George Local Football Association (Geolfa) kicked off last weekend with 16 teams. When the season ends, the Geolfa League winners will compete against other local football associations in the Inter LFAs championship later in the year.
The 16 teams are Raul Stars, Burning Fire, Celtics, Paris United, Heaven Stars, Eastern City, Young Pirates, All Stars, Future Stars, Pacaltsdorp, Abahlali, Western Tigers, Vista, Bangalo, Black Cats and Silver Stars.
Raul Stars defeated Burning Fire 4-2 in their opening Geolfa game on Sunday afternoon, 2 February, at Thembalethu Stadium.
Siyabonga Aseni, Chulumanco Tyalana, Luvuyo Ncamile and Sivuyisiwe Tini contributed the four goals for Raul Stars, while Sivuyise Nyameni scored a brace for Burning Fire.
Raul Stars players were controlling the game throughout the first half. At half time, Burning Fire was trailing 3-1. The second half saw Raul Stars' fourth goal netted by Sivuyisiwe Ntini and Nyameni's second goal for Burning Fire, originating from a penalty.
