MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The first Neil Jeffery Cup took place on Saturday, 5 October, at the D’Almeida Stadium, Mossel Bay.
Four teams battled it out in the scorching heat for the cup.
Baruchs Football Club edged out Nestle FC in the first match, with the temperature reaching 37°C.
It was a tightly contested match, with a half-time score of 0-0.
Single goal
Baruchs scored a single goal late in the second half, bringing the final score to Nestle 0-1 Baruchs.
Revolution FC took the lead early on in their match against Green Aces, by scoring from outside the box.
Green Aces responded in the second half by putting one in the back of the net.

Revolution FC
With the scores 1-1, Revolution FC had an the opportunity to take the lead with a penalty kick, however, the kick was not meant to be.
The game ended in a draw with a penalty shootout to follow.
Green Aces won 4-3.
Final had it all
The final between Baruchs and Green Aces had it all, from tackles to yellow cards and injuries in both teams.
With both teams pushing hard and testing both goalkeepers numerous times, the match ended in a draw with the scores remaining 0-0.
A penalty shootout followed that had the goalkeepers produce spectacular saves. Baruchs, however, kept their cool and beat Green Aces 5-4 on penalties.
Coaching team member
Baruchs coaching team member Sisize Maxheke said: “The past few seasons have pushed us to new limits and taught us more than ever before.
"We are extremely proud of our performance, surpassing our goal, which was to bring trophies to the cabinet."
Fired up
He said the payers were fired up and determined. The tournament prize money totals R28 000.
Founder of the tournament, Rudi Jeffery, said: “The Neil Jeffery Cup is a new football tournament hosted by clothing manufacturer Jeffery Enterprises, as a project to give back to the community.
"It is to bring people together, creating a fun and inclusive environment for players and spectators alike."
