The coaches decided that this would be a good opportunity for athletes to learn the game of cricket while having fun.
Every team must attend practise sessions on Mondays between 15:00 and 16:00 at the Indoor Sport Centre in Sampson Street, so that they may be taught proper technique and skills.
Team members that do not attend training sessions on Mondays will be excluded from the match the following Wednesday.
The tournament will run for the duration of the Indian IPL Cricket tournament, according to the following rules:
* Teams entered age group 11-17,
* Mondays training session compulsory,
* Entry is free,
* Seven players per team are entered,
* Overs per team are limited to five,
* Wides are adjudicated on discretion of the umpire only,
* Mixed teams consisting of both boys and girls are encouraged,
* The ball to be used is a tennis or mini cricket ball,
* Wicket keepers can't bowl,
* No throwing bowling, and
* One Bounce One Hand Catch when the ball hits the ceiling.

The Mossel Bay Sunrises, captained by Adriaan Erasmus, took on the Mossel Bay Mumbai Indians, captained by Jesse Rossouw, on 8 April in the first game of the tournament. Sunrises beat the Mumbai Indians by five wickets;
Adriaan scored 26 runs, Ravon Kemmies scored two runs, Jedhli van Briesies scored two runs, while Connor Hector scored two runs.
