MOSSEL BAY SPORT NEWS - Mossel Bay masters runner Selwyn Losper (54), of Nedbank Running Club, attained a Sainsbury medal in the Two Oceans Ultra Marathon.
The medal categories are gold, silver, Sainsbury, bronze and blue.
The Sainsbury medal is awarded to those finishing in less than five hours. The Sainsbury medal is named after deceased former runner Chet Sainsbury. He had been a race director of the Two Oceans Marathon. Sainsbury died of cancer in 2016.
Losper's time was four hours, 48 minutes. The ultra marathon is 56km. It was Losper's 32nd Two Oceans Marathon.
Mossel Bay Harriers runner Jacob Karelse, a grandmaster, won a bronze medal. Like Losper, it was Karelse's 32nd Two Oceans. Another Mossel Bay Harriers athlete, Michael Tobias, a masters runner, won a bronze medal. It was his 13th Two Oceans.
This year was the 50th Two Oceans Marathon. Karelse and Tobias were not available for a photograph.
