NATIONAL NEWS - As the DA in the Western Cape, we congratulate three teachers in the Western Cape for winning the National Teachers Awards in the categories of Best Teacher, Excellence in Secondary School Leadership and Excellence in Special Needs Teaching.
In addition to this, teachers in the Western Cape were conferred 2 Second place and 4 Third place positions.
MPP Lorraine Botha comments: “Along with the provincial Minister of Education, Debbie Schäfer I am incredibly proud of the performance of teachers here in the Western Cape and congratulate each of our winners. Teachers are the backbone to the high quality of education offered to learners in the Western Cape.
The results were as follows:
- Two second places: Excellence in Teaching Physical Sciences & Excellence in Technology–Enhanced, Teaching and Learning.
- Four Third places: Excellence in Grade R Teaching, Excellence in Primary School Leadership, S/Hero Award & National Learner Award.
The provincial awards ceremony, which preceded the National Teachers Awards, acknowledges the extraordinary work performed by teachers annually, and this year we are especially impressed with the achievements as the past academic year was extensively compromised by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The outstanding performance of our teachers demonstrates their resilience and dedication to overcome the challenges placed on the education sector by the pandemic.
Awards ceremonies like these appreciate the work performed by staff and encourages the need to use extraordinary skills and techniques to grow quality education.
Every participant that took part in this competition is worthy of the acknowledgement in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the sector.”
