NATIONAL NEWS - A Wi Connect store at the Lyttelton shopping centre was robbed by five armed men on Monday morning around 11:00.
The robbers escaped in a white vehicle shortly afterwards.
According to JP le Roux of security firm, Monitor Net, one person was injured, but no shots were fired nor fatalities reported.
“One shop employee was injured with what is suspected to be a broken shoulder, which occurred when he was forced to open the safe by the perpetrators,” le Roux told Rekord.
The employee was rushed to the nearest hospital by ambulance.
According to police spokesperson Captain Anton Breedt, cellphones were stolen, and a case of business robbery is being investigated.
The centre is on the corner of Botha Avenue and Cantonments Road.
