600 tons of squid found on Chinese trawlers
The vessels were detected at the weekend and have been escorted to East London harbour.
NATIONAL NEWS - Six hundred tons of squid have been found on three Chinese trawlers suspected of illegally fishing in South African waters.

The vessels were detected at the weekend and have been escorted to East London harbour.

The Fisheries department’s Bomikazi Molapo says, “The department of Agriculture, together with the South African Navy, went on a joint operation in search of alleged illegal fishing vessels on our coast. The operation then spotted two vessels just off Port Elizabeth on 20 May.”

Molapo said initially only two vessels were being monitored.
