ASLA PARK NEWS - A family of eight from Asla Park has been left homeless after a fire destroyed their home of 24 years on Thursday afternoon.
While the exact cause of the blaze is still under investigation, residents have alleged that sparks were seen coming from a nearby electricity pole, situated close to the second storey of the Hoho family's house.
According to family spokesperson Loyiso Hoho (29), his sister, cousin, and two young children were inside the house when the fire broke out. All four managed to escape unharmed. Their mother was at church at the time, while their father was at the shop.
Though no one was injured, the family lost all their possessions in the fire.
Friends and relatives from KwaNonqaba and Asla Park have stepped in to provide temporary shelter for the family.
"We don’t know how we’ll start over," Loyiso told the Mossel Bay Advertiser. "We would love to have our home rebuilt."
