MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Mossel Bay firefighters battled fires over the weekend of 19 and 20 November.
A veld fire was reported on Saturday at 10:06 opposite KwaNonqaba, on the other side of the N2, in the direction of Aalwyndal.
This fire was behind Vogelsang Landgoed. It was largely extinguished, but flare-ups continued due to the gusty wind and the terrain, with the fire being in a kloof, made it difficult to reach.
The crew extinguished the fire and damped down the area, Mossel Bay Municipality stated.
There was a flare-up at the same place on Sunday, while another fire broke out at KwaNonqaba at the N2 industrial area, so on Sunday crews were working on the KwaNonqaba side of the N2 as well on the Aalwyndal side. Both fires were damped down at about 17:53 on Sunday.
