MOSSEL BAY NEWS - As Mossel Bay gets ready to host the Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne's (UIPM) first-ever combined biathle, triathle and laser run world championships at Santos Beach this week, 8 to 13 December, there are a few things residents and visitors should know.
The championships, presented by the South African Modern Pentathlon Association (Sampa) and the UIPM, which will see able-bodied athletes and para-athletes come together for the event, will begin at 07:00 tomorrow morning, 8 December, the first heat ending at 19:00.
The heats and then the finals will continue at these times at Santos Beach until the event concludes on 13 December.
Public entry is free.
The Mossel Bay Municipality has said that limited access restrictions at Santos will apply during the event.
"Beach-goers are still welcome to enjoy the beach at their leisure, outside of the demarcated areas," it said.
Santos Beach's parking area was closed on Friday 5 December, and will remain closed until 13 December.
Amplified sound has been approved for the event and noise control exemption has also been granted for the duration of the championships.
