MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Two men have been arrested following an armed robbery in Mayixhale Street late last Friday evening, 26 December.
KwaNonqaba Police Station spokesperson Warrant Officer Kappie Kapp said a 27-year-old man had been walking along the street with his girlfriend just before 23:30 when they were approached by two men.
Kapp said one of the suspects was wielding a knife and the other, a firearm, which was later deemed to be an imitation. He said according to reports, the suspects demanded cellphones from the couple before one of the them allegedly hit the 27-year-old man over the head and stole his cellphone and an undisclosed amount of cash.
He said acase of robbery with a firearm was registered that same evening and the following day, with the help of community members, the KwaNonqaba's Crime Prevention Unit arrested two men, aged 25 and 27, in connection with the incident.
Kapp said the stolen items were also retrieved.
The two are expected to appear in the Mossel Bay Magistrate's Court today.
