MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The Fana twins are going places despite challenging circumstances.
Awethu and Amahle are Grade 7 learners at Ridgeview Primary School. Awethu dreams of becoming a lawyer or a teacher. Amahle has her sights set on becoming a brain surgeon.
At the school's recent awards ceremony, Awethu was named dux and Amahle was rewarded with certificates of merit in all her subjects.
The twins are raised by their mother only, who they describe as their role model. According to the twins, she is always encouraging and focuses on teaching them to make good decisions that will further them in life. The are also devout Christians, believing that God makes all things possible.
The twins are avid chess players and have been invited to participate in the South African Junior Chess Championship in Boksburg in January.
Facing financial challenges, the twins require sponsorship to attend this event as part of the Eden Chess team.
Anyone who would like to sponsor them, can contact Ziska Michaels from Eden Chess (071 704 3221 or ziska.michaels@gmail.com). According to a letter circulated by Michaels, return tickets to fly to Johannesburg can be obtained for less than R800.
