MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Following the fire that broke out yesterday, 17 December, in Sixaxeni Street in Asla Park, Mossel Bay Municipality has confirmed that temporary accommodation is being arranged for the families directly impacted.
According to the municipality, more than one home has been affected by the blaze. However, the exact number is yet to be confirmed.
In collaboration with the municipality, Gift of the Givers arrived in Mossel Bay today, 18 December to distribute emergency aid including blankets, mattresses, food parcels and hygiene packs to affected families.
"Following the incident at Asla Park, the municipality responded by utilising its own donation reserves and engaging its strategic partner, Gift of the Givers, whose longstanding partnership with the municipality continues to provide impactful support," said the municipality's Director of Corporate Services, Annette Potgieter.

Mossel Bay Fire, Rescue and Disaster Management teams responded to the scene, as well as police and emergency medical services.
The fire, which broke out yesterday morning, was extinguished by 14:30.
Other residents and community members of Asla Park gathered in the street to watch as emergency services tackled the fire, with some filling buckets of water themselves to assist firefighters.
Also present on the scene was the Garden Route SPCA, which took two animals into its care for safety.
The cause of the fire and whether any injuries were sustained is still unclear.
