GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - Swift response by vigilant investigators attached to the Knysna detective branch, landed four suspects from Cape Town behind bars today.
The suspects, aged between 28 and 39, were arrested on the N2 near Hartenbos earlier today. They are linked to a house robbery in Rio Street, Knysna on Monday 3 August.
Preliminary investigation reveals that the four suspects, two of them armed, entered the residence and accosted the occupants. After threatening the couple and two children, they took jewellery, cellphones and some personal items of the victims before they fled the scene on foot.
Local detectives combed the scene for clues and found some of the stolen items, as well a backpack with house breaking implements, in the bushes adjacent to the house.
Earlier today, the investigating officer followed up information received from a member of the public that the suspects boarded a taxi to Cape Town at the Knysna taxi rank.
The investigation officer immediately activated the Public Order Police in George to assist them to apprehend the suspects.
A search for the minibus taxi ensued, which was traced to the N2 near Mossel Bay.
The suspects, all foreigners, are currently in custody. They will appear in the Knysna Magistrates’ court on Friday on a charge of house robbery.
