MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The Seabird and Penguin Rehabilitation Centre (Saprec), a Mossel Bay-based non-profit organisation that has been rescuing and rehabilitating seabirds for the last 20 years, will be holding a fundraiser for its organisation and its operations at Point Padel on 28 February.
Saprec, founded 20 years ago by Carol Walton, who still runs the centre today, is based in Mossdustria off the N2 and relies on donations and goodwill from individuals and businesses to keep it running.
The centre also relies on volunteers to help with the rescue and care of the birds brought in. These birds include the critically endangered African penguin, the endangered Cape gannet, Cape cormorants and petrels.
Walton said the Padel 4 Penguins Double-Padel Fundraising Tournament will be held at Point Padel, 9 Point Road, from 14:00 until 20:00 on 28 February.
Entry for children under the age of 15 is R150, and R300 for adults. The event will also see ice cream and boerewors rolls sold, as well as some exciting drink specials.
Book your spot through Point Padel by calling or sending a WhatsApp to 071 587 6631.
If you can’t join the tournament, but would like to find out more about how you can support Saprec, call or WhatsApp Walton on 082 364 3382.
