MOSSEL BAY NEWS - "Some people steal electricity and make the whole area unsafe for all of our children. I don't want my child to also die just because he played outside," an Endlovini resident said this week after the death by electrocution of a 35-year-old man in the same community on Sunday morning.
Mossel Bay Municipality urges residents to stop illegal electricity connections and associated vandalism.
Community leaders have again strongly advocated against the illegal connections of electricity stolen at the expense of legitimate consumers.
"The people who steal power are unscrupulous. They just think of themselves and don't care if someone gets hurt just as long as they can stay in comfort."
In addition to the theft of electricity, the municipality suffers financial loss from infrastructure vandalism. Funds that could rather have been used for the upliftment and the betterment of the community often have to be used to repair vandalised infrastructure.
When electricity is stolen, it is the entire community that suffers in some or other way.
