MOSSEL BAY NEWS - A KwaNonqaba shopkeeper was shot multiple times when he reportedly tried to stop two gunmen from fleeing his store with a large amount of cash this morning, 23 June.
The shopkeeper is currently in hospital, recovering from some gunshot wounds to the arm and leg. It is believed he is in a stable condition.
KwaNonqaba Police Station’s spokesperson, Warrant Officer Kappie Kapp, said according to reports, the shopkeeper and his assistant had been in the store in the Marikana informal settlement at about 07:00 when two men entered.
The shopkeeper reported that they had acted as if they wanted to buy something, but then left the shop. Two other men entered, both armed with guns.
Kapp said the gunmen ordered the shopkeeper and assistant to lie down on the ground before stealing an undisclosed amount of cash.

The shopkeeper allegedly got up and tried to stop the gunmen from leaving the store with the cash, and was shot. The two suspects fled with the cash.
The matter is currently under investigation.
