MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Two young performers from the Mossel Bay area will be returning to South Africa with gold medals after giving the performances of their lives at the World Championship of Performing Arts (WCOPA), held in Los Angeles, America.
Talented Maja Snyman (17) from Groot Brak and Rylan Lemmetius (12) from Mossel Bay took the City of Angels by storm last week with outstanding performances, wowing the judges in each of their categories.
According to Maja's mother, Annerie Snyman, Maja received three awards: senior division winner in Acting Dramatic, Vocals Self Accompaniment and Instrumental Original Works.

She also won gold for her own violin composition under the Instrumental category, gold for all her vocal performances and a gold for her acting. Maja achieved four silver medals for all her other instrumental items.
Rylan was the divisional champion (11 to 15 year olds) in the Vocal open category. He achieved a gold medal in the open vocal category, gold in the rock category, bronze for the pop division and silver for acting.

The first round of the competition started on 30 June, with the semi-finalists announced on Wednesday, 3 July.
Maja and Rylan both went through to the finals, then held on Saturday, July 6, where both their extraordinary wins were announced.
Rylan and Maja will arrive home at George Airport on Wednesday, 10 July.
