MOSSEL BAY NEWS - On 4 February, 22 Point High School learners were taken on a hike near Knysna by our teacher, Miss Nel.
We walked to the Rondebossie hut. When we arrived, the boys eagerly started chopping wood. While we waited for water to boil on the fire so we could have something to drink, we played 30 Seconds and cards.
After eating, it was time to prepare for the mountain we had to face the next day and time for a good night's rest.
Early on Saturday we had coffee and oats. At 08:00 am we started our journey up the mountain to the Diepwalle hut. On this breathtakingly beautiful day we made good ground. Our perseverance was tested and we made good memories.
After our day of hiking we showered, ate and played UNO. By 22:00, we were all out like a light because we knew we had to get up at 06:00 on Sunday.
On our final day we quickly packed up and at 07:00 we were ready to go home.
After a short walk we reached the Big Tree and only 1.1km later, a picnic place, where the bus fetched us.
We thank the school for the opportunity to enjoy nature and Miss Nel for her supervision. We are truly thankful for the privilege to experience nature and the silence that goes with it.
It was definitely a weekend to remember and we encourage every learner to take the opportunity of going on a hike.
