MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Mossel Bay resident Pretty Mokhesen-gwane (63) has new celebrity status, which she has welcomed with glee and surprise.
She is on a Facebook video with Mrs South Africa semi-finalist Stellie Taute, of Mossel Bay. It has a total of almost 34 000 views.
Mokhesengwane has worked for Taute for eight years, but has known her for 24 years.
She appears alongside Taute in a promotional video that Taute had filmed in line with her brand awareness commitments as a Mrs South Africa semi-finalist.
Positive
The video was posted on Taute's Facebook page, as well as the Facebook page of her business, Loka, and quickly garnered thousands of views, hundreds of reactions and many positive comments.
Taute said it soon became clear to her that Mokhesengwane was the star of the video.

Speaking to Mossel Bay Advertiser on the making of the video, Taute said she had originally asked her husband to film the promotional video with her, but when he declined, she asked Mokhesengwane.
"I was a bit nervous to do it. I thought people might laugh at me, but it turns out everyone who saw it seemed to like it and had nice things to say," said Mokhesengwane.
Taute said there were many retakes of the video and the final one she posted, although mostly scripted, had an unscripted ending that really made it popular.
Perfect
She said the pair had lots of laughs making the video, but when Mokhesengwane ended one of the videos by saying "perfect",' Taute knew that was the video they should use.
"People loved it. I had many people sending me messages and commenting on how much they loved the video and loved Pretty," she said.
Mokhesengwane said she is originally from the Free State and worked for Taute's mother, watching Taute grow up. She has four children of her own, whom she put through school and university and who are now successful adults.
One is an accountant, another an agricultural adviser, another a laboratory assistant and the other works in marketing.
"Pretty is a wonderful mother and a great role model. She has worked hard throughout her life and this shows in the way her children were raised and the successes they have had," said Taute.
She added that Mokhesengwane will officially retire at the end of this year and will return to her home in the Free State.
Mokhesengwane said she likes to watch TV and scroll through Tiktok, watching funny videos in her downtime.
She added that although she was nervous to make that first video with Taute, she is ready to make more videos going forward, thanks to all the wonderful comments from viewers.
