This after a suspicious-looking white Toyota bakkie was searched in Thompson Road near the scrap metal yards. The suspects obviously wanted to sell the stolen steel as “scrap metal”.
The tracks, with a value of about R11,200, are thought to have been stolen in the Jabavu area.
The suspects were nowhere in sight when the officers arrived.
The Toyota bakkie was impounded, as well as the lengths of railway line.
