MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The PetroSA offshore gas production facility (FA Platform) that feeds natural gas to the Gas-to-Liquid (GTL) Refinery experienced a mechanical fault in the hydraulic oil system on Monday night, resulting in the shutdown of the facility.
The GTL Refinery was subsequently decommissioned.
Spokesperson, Tumoetsile Mogamisi says production teams are working on restoring operations at the FA Platform back to normal and enabling the refinery start-up activities. He says some flaring may be visible while the various units are brought into operations.
“PetroSA will do everything possible to ensure that this process is conducted in a safe manner and minimal environmental impact.”
