MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The Mossel Bay-based Peace Makers FC could not gather the crucial points they needed against Simunye FC in a Safa Eden Hollywood Bets Regional League fixture.
Peace Makers lost 6-1.
On Saturday, 8 March, at the Lawaaikamp stadium in George, Shane Booysen, Yongama Koeberg, Athenkosi Mahala, Sindile Magubane and Lusanda Mncube netted the six goals for the George-based Simunye FC. Mbongeni Lingani scored the solitary goal for Peace Makers.
Game begins
Peace Makers employed their pace on the field, trying to go through Simunye FC's back line.
Shane Booysen opened the score, making it 1-0 within five minutes of the game. Peace Makers retaliated with positive moves from the centre half, but could not convert their chances.
Yongama Koeberg extended their lead to 2-0. Aphelele Mkhosana of Peace Makers tried his luck just outside the box, delivering a delightful shot, but missed the target.
Peace Makers kept on pressing on the left side of the field, looking for their first goal. Athenkosi Mahala scored the third goal, making it 3-0. Simunye FC goalkeeper Nkosikhona Moss made a save, denying Mbongeni Lingani inside the box.
The first 45 minutes of the game ended 3-0, with Peace Makers trailing into the break.
Second half
The second half started with both teams pushing the ball, hunting for more goals. Simunye FC used their experience on the field. Yongama Koeberg scored, to make it 4-0 after hitting Peace Makers' goalkeeper.

The home team looked sharp on the ball, creating more chances on the right side of the field and employing the pace of Yongama Koeberg. Siyabonga "Mpumlo" Miggels missed an opportunity when his shot went over the woodwork.
Sindile Magubane of Simunye FC netted the fifth goal, making it 5-0. Peace Makers players tried their best to come back into the game, but it was not easy to break through the solid defenders of Simunye.
Lusando Mncube put the final nail in the coffin after scoring the sixth goal during the game's dying moments. Peace Makers managed to score their first and only goal, making it 6-1.
Regional league
So far in the league, Simunye FC has played nineteen games with 12 victories, four draws and two losses. With 40 points, Simunye FC set their sights on the Regional League title, sitting comfortably at the top spot.
Peace Makers are at the bottom with 15 points, after playing 19 games. They won three, had six draws and ten defeats.
