MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The Garden Route SPCA Mossel Bay branch has a brand new veterinary room.
The facility was officially opened on Saturday, 24 October.
For the past six years, Dr Susi Kok and Sister Ilse Wyatt-Goodall have operated in a two-room building.
The SPCA committee recently approved the renovation of a dwelling on the property, to be turned into a larger facility.
The SPCA services Friemersheim, Great Brak River and the greater Mossel Bay area. The new vet room will cater for the 235 animals who require primary health care in the ten days per month that the vet room is open to the public.

In addition, the SPCA has a small shop that will sell secondhand collars, kennels and any merchandise pertaining to pet health and care. The SPCA offers euthanasia for elderly pets who no longer have quality of life.
The facility is open to any person who requires their animals to be vaccinated or put to sleep. However, any other procedure requires a "means test". Persons who earn a collective household income of more than R12 000, need to make use of the private vets in their area.
The vet room is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 09:00 to 12:00 and 14:00 to 16:00 and on Fridays from 12:00 to 16:00.
