LITTLE BRAK RIVER NEWS - The Mossel Bay Municipality has issued a notice this afternoon, 4 June, warning residents of possible flooding in the Little Brak River area.
Mossel Bay has been experiencing persistent and heavy rainfall since Wednesday 3 June.
According to the notice, a farm dam near Brandwag is currently overflowing, and as a result, is releasing water into the Little Brak River catchment.
The Mossel Bay Fire, Rescue and Disaster Management Centre’s teams are on site and actively monitoring the situation.
Residents are advised to take note that water levels in the Little Brak River system may rise, and elevated water levels at the Little Brak River estuary can also be expected.

Those situated along the estuary, including Riverside and Powertown, are urged to remain vigilant and take precautionary measures.
These include:
• avoiding riverbanks and low-lying areas
• not attempting to cross flooded roads or rivers
• following guidance from emergency personnel.
