MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Louise van der Merwe, a woman loved in the community, was identified as the victim of the accident near Monte Christo, outside Mossel Bay, yesterday, 24 February.
She was the president of Clan - Velika Charter motorcycle club and deeply loved in the motorcycle as well as the wider community.
Family and friends of Van der Merwe were not ready to speak about her passing, but expressed the wish to offer tributes at a later stage.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Malcolm Pojie confirmed the Da Gamaskop Police had opened a culpable homicide docket for further investigation following the accident.
According to Pojie it is alleged that there was a collision between the motorcycle and a VW Polo sedan at about 18:00 on the Old Great Brak-Hartenbos Road.
“It is alleged that the Polo turned into the N2 intersection when it collided with the motorbike that was travelling towards Hartenbos on the R102.”
Medical personnel declared Van der Merwe dead on the scene.
No arrests have been made. The docket will be submitted to the senior state prosecutor for a decision upon completion of the investigation.
