MOSSEL BAY NEWS - On Saturday 9 May, the Myrtle Tree NPO hosted its annual Mother’s Day celebration with a breakfast at the Santos Express and Train Lodge in Mossel Bay.
The Myrtle Tree primarily works with single mothers in the Mossel Bay area, but honoured all mothers on this occasion.
The guest speakers for the morning included Debbie Valentine, a radio host, mother and grandmother, as well as Dr Inge Raubenheimer, a medical officer at the Mossel Bay Hospital.
Raubenheimer led an insightful panel discussion on menopause, allowing the attendees the opportunity to ask questions and engage directly on the topic.
The NPO also presented the Mother to All Award to Maggie Nguta of the Nokuthula Disabled Care Centre in KwaNonqaba, where she cares for more than 30 children and adults with disabilities.
The award is given to a woman who not only mothers her own children, but the children of the broader community as well. Nguta received a certificate and a prize in recognition of her work.
