MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The Hapag-Lloyd Cruises company’s stunning MS Europa cruise ship was spotted in Mossel Bay this morning, 5 February.
At 651ft (198.6m), complete with 10 decks and 204 suites, the ship arrived in the Mossel Bay Port at 07:00 and its expected time of departure is at 18:00 this evening.
An estimated 345 guests are on board the Europa, and they are expected to roam around Mossel Bay during the course of the day.
Arrival and departure times are dependent on the weather and ocean swells, but are ultimately up to the ship’s captain.
Although the Europa is smaller than other cruise ships, it can carry up to 400 guests and offers five restaurants, a variety of entertainment, fitness and wellness facilities and activities for families, including pool parties, arts and crafts and excursions crafted especially for children.
According to the Hapag-Lloyd Cruises’ website, because of its small size, the MS Europa is able to dock at more ports around the world than the bigger cruise ships.
Mossel Bay Tourism welcomed the guests at a hospitality desk inside the Port of Mossel Bay’s Cruise Reception Facility.
This facility was launched in November at the beginning of Mossel Bay’s 2025/26 cruise season, which will continue until May.
A R22m investment of the Transnet National Port of Authority (TNPA), this reception facility is a designated space for the passengers of luxury cruise ships when they dock in Mossel Bay.
