MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The Mossel Bay Police conducted an evacuation exercise at the station in George Road this morning, 20 November.
The Southern Cape Police’s spokesperson, Sergeant Chris Spies, said several emergency services were summoned to the police station for the exercise, during which the police units and emergency services’ readiness to respond to any eventuality were assessed.
“The Mossel Bay Police management thanked all role players for their prompt response and ongoing support. They also commended the public and road users for their co-operation,” said Spies.
The Mossel Bay Municipality said it was a full-scale hazardous materials (hazmat) exercise conducted in partnership with SAPS Mossel Bay and the SAPS Explosives Unit as part of ongoing emergency preparedness and training.
It said this was only an exercise, and there is no cause for concern and no danger to the public.
