MOSSEL BAY NEWS - No more donations are needed in the field following the fire in Aalwyndal, Vakansieplaas, Island View and surrounding areas.
The Mossel Bay Municipality said overwhelming support has been received from the community and it thanked every person who made a contribution, especially towards keeping those in the field on their feet as they battled during firefighting efforts.
It also thanked EMS Chaplaincy “for their astounding commitment manning the refreshment and rehabilitation station at the Mossel Bay Airfield and carefully coordinating aid given”.
The station ran its last session at 13:00 this afternoon, Sunday, 11 January, and closed down afterwards.
Excess donations will be moved to the sorting warehouse where other volunteers have been working around the clock to ensure donations are processed.
Anyone wishing to offer support with sorting, can report to the Generosity Pay-it-forward store at 3 Watson Street, Voorbaai.
In terms of residents affected by the fires, the municipality said enough clothing donations had been received.
The municipality encouraged those who still wanted to donate, to consider making a financial contribution to support the families affected. According to the municipality a dedicated platform has been created for donations.
