MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The Mossel Bay Association of and for Persons with Disabilities (Mossel Bay APD) recently bought a new minibus that will make a meaningful difference in the daily lives of the people the association serves.
The organisation said it is deeply grateful to have reached a position where purchasing a new vehicle became possible. “Reliable transport plays a critical role in ensuring that services are delivered safely and consistently to people with disabilities in the Mossel Bay community,” it said.
This vehicle will primarily be used to transport children attending the iLitha Lethu Daycare Centre in Mossel Bay.
“Every morning, children are collected from their homes and safely transported to the centre, where they receive care, stimulation and support during the day. In the afternoons, they are taken home again,” it said.
“For parents and caregivers, this service provides peace of mind. For the Mossel Bay APD, it represents the responsibility of ensuring that vulnerable children travel safely and with dignity.”
The association added that this milestone reflects more than just improved mobility.
“It is also the result of responsible financial management and strong oversight within the organisation. The Mossel Bay APD recently received a clean audit for the 2024 financial year - an important achievement for any non-profit organisation.
"A clean audit confirms that the organisation’s financial records are accurate, transparent and fully compliant with required standards. Strong financial management is not just about compliance, it is the foundation that enables organisations to grow sustainably and serve their communities affectively.”
The Mossel Bay APD said its management committee maintains strict oversight of financial decisions, ensuring that resources are used carefully and responsibly.
“For current and potential donors, this achievement sends a clear message: contributions entrusted to the Mossel Bay APD are managed with care, accountability and purpose ... The new vehicle is therefore more than just transport. It is a visible reminder that when responsible leadership and community support come together, meaningful change becomes possible.”
